Summer Sky on Oakwoods road painted on location in North Berwick A Touch of Fall 12 x 16 " oil ( in the studio) The first painting is the on location field study done last week. I added warmer colors to the metal roof on the barn and decided to add a bit of fall color to it since every gallery I show in will start looking for fall paintings now. Well here are two more new paintings by my daughter Devyn. She is really doing well. It really helps that she is good at drawing and has loved to draw since she was young. I was the same and my dad always taught me about good drawing and being accurate. Having my daughter take up painting has really been one of the highlights of this summer for me. Well I am happy to say my oldest daughter, Devyn (19) is starting to paint at last. She has loved drawing since she was very young and of course has been in my studio many times. This is the first time she approached me about painting though. Her project is a large canvas that will take time to develop and it her own concept. Another view of the island , this time from the beach. This painting is in acrylic on panel and is 8 x 9". I have worked out the color temperature and palette small so now I may do this one as a large 30 x 36" canvas. Today I have done two small color studies of Monhegan Island for a request from one of my friends . These are both from photos and my memory of the Island. I have not been back out there since 1985. It is of course an artist paradise but that's exactly why I have stayed away. Too many artists out there really. I will go out again but probably off season when all the tourists are gone.
